Jiangsu crush Gamba in Champions League

Chinese Super League side Jiangsu Suning FC defeated Japan’s Gamba Osaka 3-0 in their Group H clash of the AFC Champions League played at the Nanjing Olympic Sports Center on Tuesday.

The result means's Jiangsu top the group with 12 points followed by Jeju United and Adelaide United on four points while Osaka are bottom with three points.

The initial damage was done to the Japanese side early in the match after Brazilian midfielders Alex Teixeira and Ramires scored to put their side in the driving seat and Hong Jeong-Ho added a third.

With three minutes played Jiangsu took the lead when Teixeira outpaced the Gamba defence to hammer his shot into the top of the goal from the right side of the box to make it 1-0 and hand his side the perfect start.

Then four minutes later, the home side were 2-0 up when a ball played into the area from the left was poked over goalkeeper Masaaki Higashiguchi by Ramires to score.

During the first half, the visitors had more possession than their rivals but it meant nothing as just before the half-time break Jiangsu went 3-0 up as Hong Jeong-Ho scored with a header after being supplied by playmaker Teixeira.

During the second half Gamba played well but were not able to make sufficient inroads to really challenge Jiangsu's lead and the match ended 3-0 in favour of the Chinese hosts.
