Some barbs have been thrown Borussia Dortmund’s way after it was claimed they tried to injured FC Bayern Munchen’s Robert Lewandowski on Saturday.
Bayern won Der Klassiker 4-1 at the Allianz Arena, with the Poland international scoring a brace, and now the player’s agent has suggested Dortmund employed some dirty tactics to keep him quiet.
“I got the feeling that Dortmund wanted to eliminate Robert at all costs,” Lewandowski’s agent Maik Barthel was quoted in German newspaper Bild.
But, the claims were rubbished by Dortmund’s sporting director Michael Zorc, who insisted they wanted to keep their former striker out of the game in a sporting manner.
Carlo Ancelotti sides’ win saw Bayern maintain their 10 point advantage over second place RB Leipzig in the Bundesliga standings.
