Zinedine Zidane's Real Madrid play a crucial game in their title-chasing season against Atletico Madrid on Saturday, and the manager has called on the club's fans for their unbridled support.

Real are just two points clear of rivals Barcelona on 71 points, although with a game in hand, while Atletico follow in third, some way off the pace with 61 points.

Speaking to the press ahead of the derby at the Bernabéu, Zidane said: "They'll be crucial if we're to win it. The fans will be behind us more than ever, they'll play the game alongside us, I have no doubt. They're always vital for us, even more so in the final stretch of the season”.

And on the nature of the game, he added: "It's not going to be an easy game.

"I don't know how they're going to play but all I'm interested in is what we're going to do. As always, we're expecting 90 tough minutes and we'll have to show resilience because that's football. It's a derby and we know what type of game it will be. That's why we're taking it one game at a time”.

The Frenchman explained that neither side takes an advantage going into this match despite Real having won the first round tie 3-0.

“There are no favourites. There are three points to be played for and we'll wait and see what happens. We know that every match has a history.

"Atlético are going very well and I'm not expecting anything like the game in the first half of the season. We'll have to dig in. We're focused and everyone wants to see a good game of football”.
