Ndidi calls foul on Man Utd links

Leicester City midfielder Wilfred Ndidi has had to refute a story linking him with Manchester United, put out by a false agent.

A man named Hakeem Bello, supposedly the agent of the Nigeria international, reportedly told OwnGoalNigeria that "Ndidi won’t say no to Manchester United".

"I can proudly tell you that if a bid is launched for him, he will most likely ask Leicester City for a transfer,” Bello is quoted as saying.

"We’re talking Manchester United, the biggest and most successful in England. That’s a no brainer."

But it turns out that the tale is just more fake news, after Ndidi took to Twitter to distance himself from the story.

"Please be informed this information is not true," he wrote. "I'm 200% with Leicester and I don't know this person called Hakeem Bello."

The 20-year-old Nigerian has impressed since joining the Foxes from Genk in January, and scored a superb goal in their recent win over Stoke City.

Foxes boss Craig Shakespeare recently spoke in praise of the midfielder, comparing him to Chelsea’s N’Golo Kante, and hopes that comparison won’t become more apt by him leaving the King Power Stadium for a bigger club.

"We can do nothing about speculation," Shakespeare said. "It is a credit to him, in terms of the way he has performed, but also the way he is.

"He is a very good professional, very mature head on his shoulders. I have no problem with speculation, but we have our best players tied up.

"Of course, there can always be bids, we can always turn them down. But football is football, you'll always get bids for good players.

"It is vitally important we keep our young players. Speaking to Wilfred, he is very happy here. He knows that we have given him the opportunity and I am sure that he will be a player here for a long, long time."
