Chelsea striker Diego Costa believes his side can knock Manchester City out of the title race when they meet at Stamford Bridge on Wednesday.
The Blues suffered a shock 2-1 loss at home against Crystal Palace on Saturday, cutting their lead at the top of the table to seven points ahead of second-placed Tottenham Hotspur.
City are currently in fourth place, 11 points behind Chelsea – with 11 games to go this season – and know a win will put the pressure on their rivals in the title run-in.
Costa, who has scored 17 goals in the league this term, says the Blues have to quickly put the defeat to Palace behind them to maintain their title pursuit.
The Spain forward is quoted as saying by ESPN Brasil: "After a loss at home and with a rival closing the gap the importance of the City game only grows.
"We know this game against Manchester City will be a six-point affair since if we win the game they will [practically] be out of the title race while we keep the advantage.
"It also depends on the match between Tottenham and Swansea. In any case, we will do our best.
"We hope that the next game the ball will go in, and that we do a better job at handling these counter-attacking plays so we do not suffer from early goals again, and thus avoid what happened [against Palace]."
