Ton up: ‘Beast’ Neymar hits 100th goal for Barca

Brazil and Barcelona striker Neymar had double reason to celebrate when he scored Barca’s fourth goal in their 4-1 win over Granada on Sunday – it was his 100th goal for the club.

It may not have been the most spectacular goal of his century, but it was beautifully worked strike. Luis Suarez chipping a ball out to the wing, from where the cross was whipped into the far post for the unmarked Brazilian to volley home.

It was his 100th goal in his 177th appearance for Barca, Neymar reaching the landmark 11 games faster than Lionel Messi.

He becomes the third Brazilian to grab 100 goals for the club after Rivaldo’s 130 and Evaristo 105.

Barca boss Luis Enrique was full of praise for Neymar, calling him a ‘beast’.

“He has numbers [which show he is] a beast of a footballer. He’s one of the most unbalancing players in the world [for opposition defences] and his signing by this club was a great decision,” Enrique said in his post-game press conference.
“I hope he scores another 900 goals, so we can keep seeing him at Barcelona for many more years.”

Social media was also full of praise for him.
