VfL Borussia Mönchengladbach have confirmed that midfielder Mahmoud Dahoud will leave the club and join fellow Bundesliga outfit, Borussia Dortmund at the end of the season.
The 21-year-old has been the subject of wide-spread speculation regarding his future, with Premier League outfit Liverpool said to have taken a keen interest in the Germany U21 international.
The club's sporting director Max Eberl publicised the announcement of Dahoud's move on their official website ahead of their league encounter against Eintracht Frankfurt.
"Mahmoud Dahoud will be leaving us. He has chosen to join Borussia Dortmund," he said on the club's Twitter page.
"It was important for the player and the club that a decision was reached. Now it's off our minds and we can move on.
"This transfer shows that we're doing good work. Our task is to develop talents and be successful.
"We will reinvest the money we get for Dahoud and try to find a good replacement for him."
