FC Bayern München goalkeeper Manuel Neuer has been ruled out of the club’s next two games against FC Augsburg and TSG 1899 Hoffenheim with a foot injury he picked up in training.
The 31-year-old recently returned to practice after missing out on Germany's last two matches against England and Azerbaijan, though it appears a new knock has arisen.
At this stage it appears Sven Ulreich will have to step in and take his place – the 28-year-old has not featured for a single minute for the Bavarians meaning he will be under pressure to fill Neuer's boots.
The Bundesliga's official website confirmed the Germany number one's absence: "He underwent minor surgery on Wednesday evening after damaging his left foot in training earlier in the day.
"Though the operation was a success, Neuer will play no part in Bayern's next two league matches – at home to Augsburg on Saturday and at high-flying Hoffenheim on Tuesday. Sven Ulreich is likely to deputise for the Germany number one, who has yet to miss a minute of action this season."
