Real Madrid attacking midfielder Isco has claimed the media made up the reports linking him with a free transfer to Barcelona in 2018.
The 24-year-old's current contract expires at the end of next season, which has led to speculation of whether he will move on to a new club.
It was reported last week that Barcelona were interested in signing the Spaniard on a free transfer, but he has described the claim as pure invention.
"We players are used to rumours, especially when there is less football during the international break, but I don't know why some media have to invent things," he told reporters, according to ESPN FC.
"I speak on the pitch and try to do the best I can for my team."
