Fiorentina vice-president Giancarlo Antognoni has revealed that he wants Federico Bernardeschi to stay at the club because of his leadership potential.
Antognoni believes Bernardeschi has the characteristics needed to be the Viola's next captain, and wants him to continue his growth as a player at the Serie A side.
"Bernardeschi has everything to be the next captain, and it’s only right that he wears the number 10 on his back.
"He has personality and quality. Any advice? I would tell him to stay here because he can still grow a lot," Antognoni told Corriere Fiorentino.
Antognoni also went on to praise youngster Federico Chiesa, who has become a regular first-team player for Fiorentina this season, at the age of 19.
"I knew Chiesa from the Under-19 squad," Antognoni added. "He is not a child, but is already an adult despite his young age.
"He made an incredible leap, not everyone can make their debut in Turin against Juventus and then confirmed things with such a great season."
