Tottenham striker Vincent Janssen believes the team showed their mental fortitude after surviving Southampton’s late surge in the 2-1 victory on Sunday.
Spurs enjoyed a 2-0 lead at the half-time break after dominating much of the first 45 minutes, with Christian Eriksen and Dele Alli scoring the goals.
However, they struggled to replicate their dominance after the interval, and the Saints fought back to reduce the lead thanks to James Ward-Prowse's strike.
Despite the second-half scare, Spurs held on for the three points, and Janssen believes it came down to their mental strength.
"They are a good team so we had to keep hold of the three points and that’s what we did at the end," Janssen told Tottenham's official website.
"Mentality is very important and we are a very strong team mentally – you can see that.”
