Real Madrid forward Gareth Bale insists his shove on Jonathan Viera did not warrant a red card during the 3-3 draw with Las Palmas on Wednesday.
The Welsh star received his marching orders in the 47th minute of the La Liga clash at the Santiago Bernabeu with the score deadlocked at 1-1 at the time.
Bale was booked for catching Viera on his heel and was then shown a second yellow card after reacting angrily to a push from the Spanish winger.
Los Amarillos swiftly capitalised on the extra man to go 3-1 up with goals from Viera Kevin-Prince Boateng in quick succession, before Cristiano Ronaldo pulled off a rescuing act with a late brace.
Commenting on his dismissal, the Wales international told Real Madrid TV: "I don't believe that it was deserving of a red card.
"I was shown the yellow for the foul, I was then pushed and I just pushed him [Viera] back. I want to apologise to the team and the fans. I hope to learn from my mistake."
Bale will be unavailable for the trip to Eibar this weekend as Los Blancos look to reclaim top spot from Barcelona.
