Chinese Super League side Jiangsu Suning beat Adelaide United 2-1 in their Group H clash in the AFC Champions League at the Nanjing Olympics Sports Center on Wednesday.

A goal in each half by Brazilian midfielder Alex Teixeira handed his side the victory and Eli Babalj scored a consolation goal for United in the 93rd minute

The result mean's the Chinese side top the Group H standings with six points, ahead of Korea Republic's Jeju United and Japan's Gamba Osaka on three apiece while Adelaide are bottom with no points after two games played.

The match got underway with the home side going forward more and they very nearly reaped rewards for their aggression when an effort by Pengfei Xie thundered against the bar in the ninth minute.

But five minutes later, Jiangsu were in front when a shot by Ramirez was fumbled by goalkeeper Daniel Margush for Teixeira to pounce on the loose ball and score making it 1-0.

To their credit, after the early goal, United defended well thanks to Nikola Mileusnic and Papa Diawara keeping the score down to one goal at the break.

In the second half, both Mileusnic and Diawara had slight chances to get things all square and then they had what looked like a dubious offside decision when Tarek Elrich scored with replays showing it was a very tight call by the official.

The 72nd minute saw Jiangsu double their lead. Teixeira got his brace by running down the left and cutting inside with the ball to beat Margush in goal and make it 2-0.

The visitors finally scored a deserved goal when Elrich sent in a quality cross for Babalj to score with a header in the 93rd minute to make the final score 2-1.
