Gulf clubs Al Ahli and Al Ain earned important wins on Match Day Two of the AFC Champions League on Tuesday.
A brace from Omar Abdulrahman saw Al Ain pick up their first win of their 2017 campaign against Bunyodkor.
In an action packed first half, the 2016 AFC Player of the Year opened the scoring in the eighth minute, but the Uzbekistan club levelled matters almost immediately.
Caio then struck for Al Ain in the 15th minute, but again Bunyodkor bounced back to make in 2-2 before the half. Abdulrahman then cooly slotted an 89th minute penalty to earn the three points and go second in Group C.
In another Group C clash, Al Ahli beat Zob Ahan 2-1 thanks to an 86th minute goal from Omar Al Soma. The forward fired a powerful effort from 20 yards out to secure top spot in the group.
In yet another late win, Persepolis edged Al Wahda 3-2 courtesy of a 90th minute strike from Mehdi Taremi in Group D. The striker silenced the Al Wahda crowd in Abu Dhabi with his second goal of the game and put the Iran club top of the group.
Finally in Group D, Al Hilal beat Al Rayyan 2-1 at the death after Mohammad Al-Shalhoub drove the ball home from the penalty spot in the 96th minute.
