FC Bayern München are celebrating their 117th birthday by looking back at the history and achievements made since Franz John formed the club on 27 February 1900.
John, who became Bayern's first president, helped establish the team from Munich at Cafe Gisela in the district of Schwabing. It came about as a split from Manner-Turn-Verein (MTV – Men's Gymnastics Club) – and the success on the football pitch since has been remarkable.
As such, the club's official website have looked back at the honours gained. A statement read: "FC Bayern has more than 280,000 members, and more than 4,200 fan clubs from all around the globe support the German record champions.
"Bayern have amassed an impressive trophy collection over the last 117 years: 26 German championships, 18 DFB Cup triumphs, five Champions League/European Cup titles, two Intercontinental Cups, the FIFA Club World Cup, the UEFA Cup and the UEFA Supercup."
It appears the Carlo Ancelotti-coached outfit are in line for a 27th Bundesliga title as they currently lead the league by five points over RB Leipzig.
