Sunday’s Serie A round-up: Roma see off Inter at the San Siro

Roma cemented second place in the Serie A standings after recording a 3-1 win over Inter Milan at the San Siro on Sunday night.

A brace from Radja Nainggolan (12', 56') put the Giallorossi in command before Mauro Icardi pulled one back for Inter nine minutes from time, only for Diego Perotti to seal victory from the penalty spot on 85 minutes.

Luciano Spalletti's side made it four wins in succession to reduce the gap on leaders Juventus to seven points, while the Nerazzurri missed out on the chance to climb above Lazio into fifth.

Elsewhere, AC Milan kept their European dream alive with a narrow 1-0 win over Sassuolo at the Mapei Stadium.

Carlos Bacca's 22nd-minute penalty extended the Rossoneri's unbeaten run in the league to four matches as they moved within three points of the top five in seventh spot, with the Neroverdi occupying 13th position.

Lazio made it back-to-back wins as they beat Udinese 1-0 at Stadio Olimpico to boost their Champions League hopes.

A 72nd-minute penalty from Ciro Immobile clinched all three points for the Biancocelesti as they closed to within four points of the top three in fifth spot, while the 14th-placed Zebrette suffered their third defeat on the spin.

Meanwhile, Pescara were brought back down to earth with a 2-0 loss to Chievo at Stadio Marc'Antonio Bentegodi.

The basement club recorded a 5-0 victory over Genoa last time out to inject new life into their survival bid, but goals either side of the half-time break from Valter Birsa (12') and Lucas Castro (61') handed the 11th-placed Gialloblu all three points.

Crotone were denied a rare win as they squandered an early lead to lose 2-1 to Cagliari at Stadio Ezio Scida.

The 19th-placed Squali took the lead through Adrian Stoian after just 10 minutes, but Joao Pedro restored parity on 32 minutes before Marco Borriello completed the comeback win in the 69th minute.

The Rossoblu halted a five-game winless run to move up to 12th position, with Davide Nicola's side having now lost five in a row.

Palermo's survival hopes were further dented as Sampdoria snatched a late equaliser to draw 1-1 at Stadio Renzo Barbera.

Ilija Nestoroski's 31st-minute penalty looked to have given the hosts three vital points, but Fabio Quagliarella struck in the final minute to hand 10th-placed La Samp a share of the spoils.

The Rosanero are still seven points adrift of safety in 18th spot after seeing their winless run stretch to three outings.

Genoa scored deep into stoppage time to rescue a 1-1 draw against 10-man Bologna at Stadio Luigi Ferraris.

Federico Viviani broke the deadlock on 57 minutes, although the visitors suffered a setback when Vasileios Torosidis was sent off 15 minutes from time.

They would be denied victory, however, as Olivier Ntcham found a late reply for the 16th-placed Rossoblu to arrest a three-match losing streak.
