Nabil Bentaleb will join Schalke on a permanent deal at the end of the season, his parent club have confirmed.
The 22-year-old Tottenham midfielder joined Schalke on a season-long loan from the Premier League side last August.
He was deemed surplus to requirements by Spurs boss Mauricio Pochettino but has become an important player for Markus Weinzierl.
He has complimented his energetic, action-packed displays with four league goals, to help the side to 10th on the standings after 21 games.
A statement on the Tottenham website read: “We have reached agreement with FC Schalke 04 for the permanent transfer of Nabil Bentaleb this summer.”
Bentaleb added on Schalke’s website: “When I came to Schalke in the summer, my aim was to play as much as possible and persuade the club to make the transfer permanent.
“Things have worked out brilliantly and I am thrilled.
“It is great to have the feeling that you are trusted by the club: the coaching staff, my team-mates, the higher-ups and everyone here have made it really easy to feel at home at S04. I am very happy to be a part of this team.”
Bentaleb will commit himself to Schalke until 2021.
