Tottenham Hotspur striker Harry Kane says midfielder Dele Alli feels like he let his teammates down after receiving a red card in the Europa League in midweek.
Spurs were reduced to 10 men in the 39th minute when Alli was shown a straight red card for a careless lunge on a Gent player.
The north London side went on to draw the game 2-2 and go crashing out of the tournament after losing the first leg 1-0.
Kane says that Alli is gutted with the role he played in the Lilywhites relegation from the Europa League, but is confident the young midfielder will learn from the experience and grow as a player.
"Dele will learn from this," he was quoted saying by Sky Sports. "Obviously in European football when tackles like that go in you are more likely to get a red card.
"He is obviously gutted and feels like he has let us down a bit but Dele has been great for us this season. We fought hard for him to turn it around.
"It is something he will learn from and get experience from for the future."
