A goal inside the last 20 minutes from Xabi Prieto saw Real Sociedad hang on to record a hard fought 1-0 victory over Las Palmas in Friday's La Liga clash at Estadio de Gran Canaria.
It would be the visitors who would have the best chance in the early exchanges when Inigo Martinez headed just wide in the the fourth minute. Teenager Mikel Oyarzabal would also go close later in the first half.
After the break, Las Palmas nearly hit the front but were thwarted by a smart save from Geronimo Rulli in the 52nd minute. Jese Rodriguez then had a chance to make it 1-0 in the 68th minute for the Yellows, but his effort failed to hit the back of the net.
However, Prieto would win the game for the White and Blue when he stole the ball off Javi Varas and netted the winner in the 74th minute. There were few further alarms as Eusebio Sacristan's side took the three points back to San Sebastian.
