Global defeat Magwe in AFC Cup

Philippines champions Global FC got their AFC Cup Group F campaign off perfectly with a 1-0 win against Myanmar’s Magwe FC at the Rizal Memorial Football Stadium in Manila on Tuesday.

The only goal was scored in the first half by Global captain Misagh Bahadoran.

The game started off slowly with both teams feeling each other out but as the game progressed, the home side had more possession and looked always the more likely to score.

The goal came in the 39th minute when striker Bahadoran brought down a Matthew Hartmann cross and poked the ball past Magwe's goalkeeper Kyaw Zin Phyo to make it 1-0.

Global upped things during the second half, taking the game to their opponents and taking more shots at goal.

In the end, the home side deserved their victory having had a total of ten shots on goal compared to Magwe's two. In the possession stakes, Global were also in charge in that department with 58 percent of the ball.

The win puts Global top of the group on three points, ahead of Malaysia's Johor Darul Ta'zim and Boeung Ket Angkor FC of Cambodia, who must still play, while Magwe are bottom of Group F after one game.
