Reported Barcelona target Jorge Sampaoli has been offered a contract extension by Sevilla in a bid to keep him at the club.
The 56-year-old former Chile manager has guided Los Blanquirrojos to third place on the league standings this season – just two points behind second-placed Barcelona and three adrift of leaders Real Madrid – after 21 games.
With Barcelona reportedly considering the future of manager Luis Enrique, as a result of their 4-0 loss to Paris Saint-Germain in the Champions League last week, Sevilla have moved to tie down their manager amid reports he would be the frontrunner for the post, if Barca were to inexplicably dispense with Enrique.
Sevilla president Jose Castro told Cadena SER: "We want Sampaoli to remain here.
"His attacking game makes us happy. Sevilla have offered him another year."
Sampaoli, who has a release clause of just €1.5million, is currently under contract at the club until 2018.
