FC Bayern Munchen have rallied behind Thomas Muller after the forward got back to goal scoring ways against Arsenal in the Champions League.
Prior to that strike, Muller was struggling for goals and has been left out of the starting line-up in recent times. With just one Bundesliga goal to his name, the 27-year-old is falling well short of the 20 league goals he bagged in 2015/16.
As such, the player's goal against the Gunners has been celebrated by teammates and club officials as a sign of things to come. Striker Robert Lewandowski said: "The goal today was important for him personally. He always keeps going, and how he works is incredible."
Coach Carlo Ancelotti added: "I think he has made the breakthrough. I'm very happy about it. I'm sure he'll be important for us in the future."
Meanwhile, Bayern chairman Karl-Heinz Rummenigge declared: "Thomas is Thomas. His importance to us is enormous. Slowly but surely he's approaching good form again."
