Preview: Wolves v Chelsea

Wolverhampton Wanderers face their toughest challenge of the season when they welcome Premier League-leading Chelsea to Molineux Stadium in the FA Cup fifth round on Saturday.

Wolves have not had the season they would have been hoping for so far and find themselves down in 18th place in the Championship. Even worse, their form coming into the tie against the Blues has been poor losing three consecutive league games.

Manager Paul Lambert has his side playing an attractive brand of attacking football, but the results have just not been coming and they will almost certainly not be able to get away with that against Chelsea.

The west London club thrives when teams come on to them and give them space to attack into, while the only times they have really seemed to struggle this season is when teams sit deep and defend.

One factor that will play squarely into the hosts hands is that they will be able to play with almost no pressure. No one will expect them to win this one, while defeat would be embarrassing for the Blues and that may be playing in the back of their minds this weekend.

Nevertheless, they will be supremely confident, coming into the match on a six-game unbeaten run in all competitions, and only one defeat since late October.

Michal Zyro remains a long-term injury absentee for Wolves, but they have no fresh injury or suspension news to report, while Chelsea have a fully-fit squad to choose from, but manager Antonio Conte could be tempted to rest a few of his star players.
