Roma left-back Emerson Palmieri has thanked manager Luciano Spalletti and his teammates for supporting him in his journey towards becoming a starter.
Palmieri has endured plenty of criticism during his time at the Giallorossi, but marked his improvement as a player on Thursday when he scored a stunning goal in Roma's 4-0 thrashing of Villarreal in the Europa League.
"It was a great goal, I gave it a go with my right foot and it went well. It's an unforgettable moment for me," Emerson told Roma TV.
"This year I am playing with more courage and can show my qualities. I thank the coach and my teammates, as without them I never would've improved so much."
Spalletti also commented on Emerson's turnaround, relishing the fact that the young man has proven his doubters wrong.
The manager added: "Now some people will have to delete a few tweets, because many said at the start of the season that we didn't have a left-back and clearly that's not true."
