Southampton have handed a short-term contract to former Juventus defender Martin Caceres.
The Saints were in need of reinforcements at centre-half after Virgil van Dijk was ruled out for around three months with an ankle injury.
After several weeks of negotiations, Southampton have signed Uruguayan international Caceres until the end of the season after the 29-year-old was a free agent following his departure from Juventus last summer.

"I am very happy to have signed for what is an important club in English football," said Caceres.
"Of all of the options that I had, I think that the best option for me was to come to Southampton."
Caceres won four Serie A titles during three spells at Juventus, while he also lifted the La Liga and Champions League trophies as a Barcelona player.
But he has made not a competitive appearance for a year after a rupturing his Achilles tendon last February.
