Ancelotti: Thiago was perfect against Arsenal

FC Bayern München manager Carlo Ancelotti was delighted with Thiago's performance in Wednesday's 5-1 win over Arsenal in the Champions League.

Die Roten were level at 1-1 after the first half of their last-16 first leg at the Allianz Arena, but ran away with it after the break with three goals in 10 minutes, Thiago netting two of them.

"He played really well and also managed to score twice. It was a perfect performance," Ancelotti said of the midfielder in the post-match press conference."

The Italian tactician was satisfied with the outcome at home, but also warned against complacency for the return leg.

"We played fantastic football with good intensity and balance. We started well but Arsenal equalised and we had problems at the end of the first half. But during the second half the spirit was good," he added.

"The result is really important, we have the advantage. We have to prepare well for the game in London. We want to avoid problems so we have make sure we play with the same intensity, spirit and concentration."
