AFC Cup: Home Utd through to group stages

Singapore’s Home United defeated Cambodia’s Phnom Penh Crown FC 3-0 (7-3 on aggregate) at Jalan Besar Stadium to reach the Group Stages of the AFC Cup on Tuesday.

The goal's that helped Home to qualify to Group H, along with Myanmar's Yadanarbon FC and Than Quang Ninh of Vietnam, were scored by Adam Swandi in the first half, Croatian forward Stipe Plazibat in the 71st minute before Amiruldin Asraf got the third in the 82nd minute.

Young midfielder Swandi was in great form, scoring the opening goal and setting up Plazibat for his second half goal.

The opening goal in the 14th minute came when a through ball by Faris Ramli found Swandi, who slotted it past the onrushing goalkeeper.

The visiting Cambodian side battled hard to break down a solid display by Home United and late in the first half Plazibat was denied from adding the second goal by a great save from goalkeeper Keo Soksela.

In the 49th minute, the home side nearly scored when a header by Futa Nakamura crashed against Crown FC's crossbar.

The second goal came in the 71st minute when Swandi's low cross found Plazibat, who flicked it into the goal to make it 2-0. 

Substitute Asraf got the third goal in the 82nd minute when he tapped in after being set up Shamil Sharif to give home the 7-3 aggregate victory.
