Relegation-threatened Granada made big strides towards securing their top-flight status by claiming an unexpected 1-0 win over Las Palmas in La Liga on Monday night.
Going into the match with only one win from their first 20 matches of the season Granada knew they would need to produce something special to take points off of mid-table Las Palmas.
They began the match well and found themselves in front just 17 minutes in after a glorious through-ball found its way to Andreas Pereira, who took a touch before unleashing a thunderbolt from 25 yards out to put his side 1-0 up.
After going a goal ahead the hosts retreated into their shell to protect an invaluable three points and, while it may not have produced the spectacle the fans were hoping for, they did a magnificent job of defending their lead.
Despite having 15 attempts on goal during the match, Las Palmas were unable to beat Guillermo Ochoa and Granada claimed a vital three points.
