Sunday’s Serie A wrap: Parolo hits four for Lazio

Marco Parolo scored four goals as Lazio moved into fourth place courtesy of a 6-2 victory over relegation favorites Pescara.

Massimo Oddo's side have now lost 16 of their 23 games this season as they languish at the bottom of the Serie A standings with nine points – 13 points from safety.

Italy international Parolo got the scoring underway with two fine strikes in the first-half before the out-of form Biancazzurri fought back with goals from Libyan playmaker Ahmed Benali and defensive midfielder Gaston Brugman.

However, Simone Inzaghi's side scored four unanswered goals in the second-half with Parolo scoring a further two along with solitary strikes from Keita Balde and strike partner Ciro Immobile.

Atalanta retained their sixth place position after a 2-0 win over Cagliari at the Stadio Atleti Azzurri d'Italia.

A brace from Argentine striker Alejandro Gomez handed Gian Piero Gasperini's side as the visitors dropped down to 15th.

Sassuolo remained in 14th despite Lorenzo Pellegrini's first-half goal giving them three points in a 1-0 win over Genoa at Stadio Comunale Luigi Ferraris.

The defeat for the home side keeps I Rossoblu in 16th place, as their disappointing 2016/17 campaign continues.

Palermo moved above Crotone in the relegation six-pointer with Macedonia forward Ilija Nestorovski grabbing the only goal of the game in the 27th minute – to move into 18th place.

Empoli picked up a crucial point with 1-1 draw against Europa league chasing side Torino at the Stadio Carlo Castellani.

Andrea Belotti opened the scoring for the visitors in the 11th minute but Manuel Pucciarelli restored parity in the first-half stoppage-time.

Giovanni Martusciello's side are now eight points clear of 18th placed Palermo, while Il Toro remain in ninth, five points behind AC Milan.

Cheivo and Udinese remained in 11th and 12th placed respectively after a 0-0 stalemate at the Stadio Marc'Antonio Bentegodi.
