Middlesbrough manager Aitor Karanka admits his side felt the pressure of their relegation rivals winning before their match against Tottenham Hotspur kicked off.
Boro lost the match at White Hart Lane 1-0 after Harry Kane converted from the penalty spot in the second half.
The club are currently 15th in the Premier League but are worryingly only one point above the relegation zone after Hull City beat Liverpool, while Sunderland beat Crystal Palace to bring everyone in the bottom six within two points of each other.
"Today we went to the pitch knowing the other results and I think the pressure of the first half was on the pitch. The second half, I told them that we had to leave that pressure on the pitch," he said.
"We had to play in our way, we need to be more aggressive, more intense and in the second half I think we were better. And when we were trying to do something, we conceded that goal and at the end, we had chances to score.
"Once again, we showed we can compete against every single team and once again, I have to say that the players have been amazing."
