Napoli thrashed Bologna 7-1 in a Serie A clash on Saturday that saw Marek Hamsik and Dries Mertens grab a hat-trick each as well as a red card for both teams.
The deadlock was broken in the fourth minute as Jose Callejon's cross from the right was headed home by Marek Hamsik. Lorenzo Insigne then added a second in the sixth minute after bringing down Pepe Reina's long ball and finishing well.
Callejon then picked up a yellow card after he gave away a handball in the box to concede a penalty. However, Reina did well to save Mattia Destro's penalty soon after. Yet, Callejon would see red in the 26th minute when he kicked out a Bologna player after being fouled.
With that said, the home team went down to 10 men when Adam Masina was sent off for a professional foul on Dries Mertens. The forward dusted himself off to score brilliantly from the free-kick in the 33rd minute.
The action continued in the 36th minute when the hosts pulled a goal back when Vasilis Torosidis nodded home from a rebound after a good Reina save from close range. Just before the break, Mertens grabbed his second with a clinical finish.
Hamsik then added a fifth in the 70th minute after more good work by Mertens. The same player made it 6-1 in the 74th minute when he hit a rocket from outside the box into the top corner. Mertens completed his own hat-trick in the 90th minute after some good footwork in the box.
