AZ Alkmaar have completed the signing of Netherlands goalkeeper Tim Krul on a six-month loan deal from English side Newcastle United.
Krul spent the last six months recovering from a serious cruciate ligament injury, while on loan at Ajax – with a view to return to fitness with the Eredivisie giants.
However, the form of 20-year-old Cameroonian goalkeeper Andre Onana prompted the club to terminate the loan switch, allowing their domestic rivals to profit from the decision.

The towering 28-year-old stopper brings a wealth of English Premier League experience to the Cheeseheads and AZ director of football Max Huiberts could not hide his delight after securing the deal.
"It's fantastic we can get a keeper of Tim's qualities," he told the club's website.
After making his debut for the Magpies in 2009, Krul went onto feature 157 times in the English top-flight – registering a total of 42 clean sheets.
