Ajax Amsterdam technical director Marc Overmars admits the club is delighted to have secured Sao Paulo winger David Neres on transfer deadline day.
The Brazil youth international completed a €15m to the Amsterdam ArenA as a replacement for Anwar El Ghazi who joined Ligue 1 side Lille, hours earlier on Tuesday.
After breaking into the first-team set-up at Tricolor, the 19-year-old has attracted the attention of a host of European club's and due to his pace and trickery – the left footed winger has drawn direct comparisons to Bayern Munich star Douglas Costa.
"Neres is a player we have wanted for a while. He is one of the biggest talents in South America and it's nice that he's chosen Ajax," Overmars told the club's webiste.
"He is a right-winger who can play on the left, which is what we need. He's only 19 and he will have to get used to it here.
"We have a lot of important games ahead, so I am happy that he is coming here now and not just in the summer."
Neres scored three goals in eight league games for Rogerio Ceni's side last season.
