Ivanovic leaves Chelsea for Zenit

Branislav Ivanovic has ended his 10-season career at Chelsea after agreeing a return to Russia with Zenit St Petersburg.

The Serbian defender will be remembered as one of the club's finest right-backs, having played a big role in their recent achievements, including two Premier League titles, three FA Cups, and the Champions League.

But the 32-year-old suffered a dip in form parallel to the club's last season, and has featured seldom since Antonio Conte switched up his defensive formation, settling on a system without the former Lokomotiv Moscow man..

"I can say I'm very happy to come here, and to be at a big club like Zenit, I hope together we'll have success," Ivanovic told the club's official website.

"I had a very big hope to come back to Russia and to play here. I am motivated and I think that I can play for many more seasons at the top level.

"I am happy just to play. I am happy in the centre or on the right. That's probably a question for the manager but I am happy to play in any position."
