Quaison completes Mainz move

1. FSV Mainz 05 have bolstered their squad for the second round of the Bundesliga campaign with the signing of attacking-midfielder Robin Quaison from Serie A strugglers Palermo.

The 23-year-old formed an integral part of the Serie A side during his three-year-stay with the club and reportedly garnered interest from Roma, Birmingham, Sampdoria and Juventus.

Massimiliano Allegri’s side appeared to be front-runners for the Swede’s services, however, Quaison revealed that the club’s philosophy aided him in his decision to sign a four-year-contract with the German side.

“I looked in detail at the philosophy of the manager and the team. I liked what I saw,” he said at the unveiling.

Quaison will compete with Philipp Klement and Levin Oztunali for a starting-berth in Martin Schmidt’s squad.
