Paris Saint-Germain defender Thiago Silva has emphasised the importance of the upcoming Ligue 1 clash with Monaco, calling it a 'small final'.
League-leaders Monaco have a three-point lead over PSG heading into the encounter at Parce des Princes, and Silva is determined to close the gap.
The Brazilian centre-back has been impressed by what he has seen from their rivals and knows that the game is vitally important for the title race.
"They are very good, they have always been, but they show more and more quality with each season. We hope that in the end we'll finish ahead of them and be champions, of course," he told the PSG official website.
"This season, it'll be tough to catch them because they're playing well, they're scoring a lot… the start of the year will be important for them, to confirm their ambitions.
"Sunday's match will undoubtedly be a turning point in the season. They have gained a lot of confidence, and have a stable, solid team.
"I'm happy to see a strong Monaco team. It's good for French football and for the interest of the league.
"A match like this one is decided on the small details. It's a bit like a small final. We'll do everything to play well and, above all, win the game."
