Nigerian teenager Henry Onyekuru is being tracked by Bundesliga title challengers Leipzig, according to his Belgian Pro club KAS Eupen.
Onyekuru has been in sublime form this season with 12 goals and six assists in 22 games for the Belgian top-flight side and has reportedly attracted the interest of Glasgow Celtic, Arsenal and Liverpool.
However, the club’s technical executive Christoph Henkel feels is he is to leave the Qatari-owned club, he won’t be joining the Scottish giants as his development would be best served remaining in Belgium.
“We know Celtic are interested, but Red Bull Leipzig are as well. I don’t think the Scottish league is an option for Henry,” he told ESPN.
“Scotland is 23rd on the UEFA ranking and Belgium ninth. Our competition is therefore more rewarding.
“Besides, I think the qualities of Henry Onyekuru don’t correspond to Scottish football. He would be more likely to flourish in the Bundesliga.”
