Atletico Madrid advanced to the semi-final of the Copa del Rey after a 5-2 aggregate victory over Eibar. Wednesday's second leg ended 2-2 at the Ipurua Municipal Stadium.
Both sides struggled to create clear openings in the opening 25 minutes although Eibar came close to opening the lead. Josue Dorrio forced a fine save out of Miguel Angel Moya from 25 yards in the 27th minute, after Bebe's cross was not properly cleared.
It was a half of few chances although the first goal would arrive after the interval from a corner. Following Nicolas Gaitan's excellent delivery from the left, Gimenez rose highest to head home in the 49th minute.
The home side were showing spirit and Moya was again in action in the as he got down well to his left to claw away Bebe's free kick in the 61st minute. Atletico appeared to be content to see out the rest of the contest although Yoel Oterino had to be sharp to save Angel Correa's effort after good work from Yannick Carrasco.
The equaliser arrived in the 73rd minute when Pedro Leon's shot hit the bar and fell to Sergi Enrich who improvised well to volley home. Leon made the pressure count in the 80th minute when he grabbed the second goal with a volley from Ruben Pena's cross.
Juanfran completed the scoring when he made it 2-2 after he was put through on goal by Gabi, and the right back lobbed it over Yoel in the 85th minute.
