Chelsea manager Jose Mourinho wants Diego Costa to show greater foresight off the ball to help his improve his scoring record.
The Spain international netted 20 goals in 26 appearances in his debut season for the Blues, but has struggled this season, scoring just three times in 11 games.
Chelsea have similar struggles this campaign and are currently languishing down in 15th position in the league standings.
And Mourinho wants Costa to show greater intelligence in his off-the-ball play if he is to rediscover his scoring form.
"He is not reading the game properly in these actions. That was my opinion," Mourinho said in his pre-match press conference ahead of Sunday's clash against Tottenham.
"As a striker he must read. You have to play not when you have the ball, but when others have the ball. You have to anticipate things and read the game faster. Everything is an accumulation.
"You're not on fire again just because you've scored a goal against Norwich. It's a process."
