Serie A side Genoa have announced the signing of Morocco international Adel Taarabt on loan.
The 27-year-old, who joined Benfica in 2015, was told he had no future at the Portuguese club after reportedly begging to leave in an interview he gave to France Football in August.
The former Tottenham Hotspur and Queens Park Rangers attacking midfielder joined the club after loan spells with Fulham and AC Milan, but returned to the club from pre-season overweight.
Genoa have now taken a chance on the highly-talented player who has scored just once for Benfica B in Segunda Liga after signing five-year contract.
They are struggling at the wrong end of the Serie A table, in 12th place with 23 points from 19 games.
