Hulk has revealed that he played a pivotal role in convincing Oscar to leave Chelsea for the Chinese Super League.
The Brazilian internationals are now team-mates at Shanghai SIPG after Oscar joined the club in a £60 million from Chelsea when the January transfer window opened.
While Oscar will reportedly earn £500,000 a week, Hulk, who signed with Shanghai for £45.7 million in June, said that the move from the Premier League to China was not just about money.
“I talked to Oscar about Shanghai SIPG before he made the move,” he said. “I said to him that Shanghai is a beautiful city, the club is fantastic and we will get even better in the coming years.
“I also said our team-mates are very friendly and welcoming, which makes me feel pretty good. After hearing what I told him, he came.”
Oscar scored on his debut for the club in a 2-1 friendly win over Saudi Arabian side Al Batin on Monday.
However, even though Shanghai have invested a tremendous amount of money in Oscar and Hulk, the latter made it clear that he and his Brazilian compatriot will not be under any extra pressure.
“We have grown accustomed to playing under huge pressure, no matter how much the club has spent on players,” he added. “Oscar, Elkeson and I are used to it. This is not a problem.
“Each new player is coming to help the team and I believe Oscar will help us a lot. The level of the team has improved a lot, obviously, and I think we will win the title next season.”
