Relegation-threatened Bundesliga outfit Hamburger SV have announced the appointment of Jens Todt as the club’s new sporting director.
The former youth team coordinator has penned a two-year-deal with the Rothosen, ahead of joining up with the team for their winter training camp in Dubai.
The 47-year-old replaces Peter Knaebel, who vacated the post last May and was subsequently replaced by Heribert Bruchhagen.
“It’s a special thing for me to take responsibility for HSV,” Todt told the Bundesliga’s official website.
“I’m really looking forward to this challenging role and am ready to deliver my part,” he concluded.
Hamburg are the only founding member of the Bundesliga never to be relegated, but are facing the real threat of dropping down to Germany’s second tier as they languish in 16th position with just 13 points from a possible 48.
