Wolfsburg delight as Bazoer arrives

New VfL Wolfsburg signing Riechedly Bazoer has officially linked up with the Bundesliga club, while Carlos Ascues is poised to join FBC Melgar on loan.

The highly-rated Dutch defensive midfielder Bazoer signed for Wolfsburg in December, ahead of the January transfer window, from AFC Ajax in a deal that runs until 2021.

He already has six caps for the Netherlands at the tender age of just 20.

Wolfsburg head coach Valerien Ismael recently said: "I know Riechedly Bazoer well and really believe in the quality he possesses.

"He suits our team perfectly and can help VfL get back on the right track."

Sporting Director Olaf Rebbe added: "We have had a close eye on Riechedly Bazoer for quite some time and we are delighted that he has opted to sign for VfL Wolfsburg, in spite of having further offers from other renowned clubs."

Ascues, is meanwhile, set to join FBC Melgar on loan. The 24-year-old Peru international returns to his homeland for some much-needed game time.

"Although Carlos was regularly back in full team training and would appear to have overcome his injury problems, he lacks the necessary match practice in competitive football. For that reason, we made the agreement with him that he should try to assume that match-practice at his home club," explained Rebbe.

The club has also announced the arrival of coach Patrick Guillou, who form part of Ismael's backroom staff.

Ismael said: "Patrick fits into our coaching team perfectly. He has worked in France, England and Scotland and was most recently active as an assistant coach at Girondins Bordeaux. With him joining our team, we are now even better equipped for the challenges and tasks ahead.

Rebbe added: "Patrick Guillou complements our trainer team with his abilities and he also speaks four languages. We are very much looking forward to working together with him."
