Tottenham striker Harry Kane may be a prolific goalscorer, but the penalty he struck during Spurs’ 4-1 win at Southampton last night was definitely one to forget.
Kane stepped up to take the spot kick with Spurs leading 2-1 but instead of placing it into the corner of the net he proceeded to blast it miles over the bar.
That Harry Kane penalty just landed in 2017. https://t.co/lmg5JFLhWR

To be fair, the sodden turf at the St. Mary’s did give way under his standing foot, producing an end result that was a carbon copy of David Beckham’s spot-kick against Turkey in 2003 during an England Euro 2004 qualifying game.
And Kane can be seen turning around immediately after the miss to look at the ground.
Still, it didn’t take long for all the online wags to start commenting on the spectacular miss.
Is it a plane? Is it a bird? Oh no it's Harry Kane's penalty.

But even the man himself saw the funny side of it afterwards, offering his services to any interested NFL teams.
