Barcelona and Sevilla were amongst the goals in the Copa del Rey round of 32, while Sporting Gijon, Granada, Leganes and Real Betis all exited the competition.
A second-half blitz from Barcelona saw them cruise into the quarter-finals after they ran out comprehensive 7-0 victors over Hercules at the Camp Nou on Wednesday.
Luis Enrique's side, who were held to a 1-1 draw in the first leg, were two goals up at the break courtesy of Lucas Digne (37') and Ivan Rakitic (45' pen).
But they ran riot in the second half as Arda Turan (55', 86', 89') bagged a hat-trick, with further efforts from Rafinha (50') and Paco Alcacer (73') sealed a big win.

Elsewhere, Sevilla thrashed lower-league outfit Formentera once again to progress 14-2 on aggregate after winning 9-1 at Ramon Sanchez Pizjuan.
Luciano Vietto (22', 43', 45') and Wissam Ben Yedder (24', 55', 88') led the way with a hat-trick apiece, while Ganso (14') and Pablo Sarabia (27', 77') also chipped in with goals to cruise into the next round. Gabri Gomez's 61st-minute reply was scant consolation for the visitors.

In one of four all-La Liga encounters, Eibar ended Sporting Gijon's cup run with a 3-1 success at Ipurua taking them through 5-2 on aggregate.
Kike (1', 46') scored at the start of each half to help Los Armeros to victory, with Adrian (44') also getting on the scoresheet for the hosts, while Ruben Sanchez pulled one back for Rojiblancos in the final minute.
Granada's journey also ended at the round of 16 after they suffered a 2-0 defeat to top-flight rivals Osasuna, who clinched a 2-1 aggregate win at El Sadar.
Goals from Alex Berenguer (45') and Jaime Romero (59') either side of the break saw La Liga's basement club turn the tie following a 1-0 reverse in the first leg.
Meanwhile, Valencia booked their place in the last 16 as a brace from Rodrigo (36', 89') secured a 2-1 win over Leganes at the Mestalla.
Rodrigo handed Los Che a first-half lead, but they were pegged back by Darwin Machis' 49th-minute equaliser to give the Pepineros hope, before the Spanish forward popped up with an 89th-minute winner.
Deportivo La Coruna also came from behind in their tie after beating Real Betis 3-1 at the Riazor to clinch a 3-2 victory on aggregate.
Trailing 1-0 from the first leg, Depor struck early on home soil through Alejandro Arribas (11') to take a 1-0 lead into the half-time interval.
Luisinho then put the Galicians in front for the first time in the two-legged affair before Ryan Babel (59') sealed the comeback win soon afterwards. The Andalusian outfit threatened a fightback when Cristiano Piccini (66') reduced the deficit, but the hosts hung on to advance in the competition.
