Kashima Antlers booked their spot in the FIFA Club World Cup final on Wednesday after thrashing Atletico Nacional 3-0 at Suita City Football Stadium in Osaka.
There were a number of shots at goal in the opening exchanges but it was Atletico who came closest in the 24th minute when Mosquera rattled the bar with an effort.
However, in the 31st minute disaster struck for the Colombian side as Orlando Berrio fouled Daigo Nishi in the box, resulting in a penalty for the Antlers. Shoma Doi took the spot-kick and slotted home for a 1-0 lead.
On the stroke of half-time, Nacional were once again unlucky not to find their opening goal. Mosquera was the man who fired a shot at goal and again hit the woodwork as the Antlers took their narrow lead into the break.
There were a couple of shots on target after the interval, and a few that missed the mark, but the game only saw its next goal in the 83rd minute when Yasushi Endo found the back of the Atletico net for a 2-0 lead.
A mere two minutes later, the Japanese side secured their place in the final thanks to substitute Yuma Suzuki, who came on in the 84th minute and produced a goal moments later.
