Monday’s Serie A round-up: Roma edge Milan 1-0

The 16th round of Serie A action concluded on Monday with Roma beating fellow title hopefuls AC Milan, while Fiorentina also got the better of Sassuolo.

Roma remain within touching distance of the league summit after they edged out AC Milan 1-0 at Stadio Olimpico.

Radja Nainggolan's second-half goal was all that separated the two teams in the Italian capital as the Giallorossi maintained the four-point gap to leaders Juventus.

The Belgium international struck in the 62nd minute for the hosts to halt a five-match unbeaten run for the third-placed Rossoneri.

Earlier in the evening, Fiorentina made it back-to-back wins in the league as they ran out 2-1 victors against Sassuolo at Stadio Artemio Franchi.

A first-half brace from Nikola Kalinic gave La Viola's European aspirations a boost as they closed to within five points of the top-five in seventh place, with a game in hand.

The Croatian striker opened the scoring after just 10 minutes before doubling their in the 39th minute, although Francesco Acerbi (76') pulled one back for the Neroverdi in the second half.

Eusebio Di Francesco's side have won just two of their last 10 matches in the top flight to sit eight points clear of the relegation zone in 15th position.
