De Laurentis: Real Madrid draw historic

Napoli president Aurelio De Laurentis has stated that the Champions League clash with Real Madrid will be a historic one for his club.

The Partenopei were drawn against the defending champions and are now set to face each other over two legs in the Round of 16.

De Laurentiis is aware that it will be a mammoth challenge for Napoli to get past Los Blancos, but he insists everyone at the club will throw their support behind coach Maurizio Sarri and his players.

"It will be a super tough game," De Laurentiis told the press after the draw. "Sarri had said maybe it will be Real and he’s content with this. We are standing beside him in this challenge.

"First we will play there and then we will give everything at the San Paolo.

"I think that will be one of those challenges that will go down in Napoli's football history.

"It’s good to draw Real Madrid from the urn. Now our new purchases are emerging and [Dries] Mertens is proving that he can do well even as a striker. But we don’t let him know it too much!"
