Netherlands international Siem de Jong says he still harbors ambitions of a return Premier League football as he continues to improve his match fitness at PSV Eindhoven.
The 27-year-old joined PSV on a season-long loan in August, having endured a frustrating two-year spell at Newcastle that saw the player make just 22 appearances in England's top flight.
Now, with Newcastle cruising towards a return to the top flight, and the 27-year-old nearing full fitness during his loan spell, De Jong is hopeful of a return to the Magpies.
"I would definitely like to succeed at Newcastle United," he told FOX Sports show De Tafel van Kees.
"It would be a nice scenario that they are promoted first and then I return to play in the Premier League."
De Jong scored 78 goals and registered 48 assists in 244 games for de Godenzonen before his £6 million switch to the Geordies in 2014.
