Vitesse Arnhem striker Ricky van Wolfswinkel has urged his side to maintain their improved form, after helping them to a 1-0 victory over Sparta Rotterdam in the Eredivisie.
The former Norwich forward grabbed his eighth league goal of the season, but admitted he had to remain patient after it took 83 minutes for his side to finally break the deadlock.
"I did not have many chances to score in the game and eventually we got a corner late on and I was able to score," he told NOS.
"Sparta Rotterdam played in a compact way throughout the game. We had to remain patient and active and await an opening to score.
"You never know as a striker how a match will go but you need to be involved in the match and anticipate chances," the 27-year-old added. "We have had a difficult period lately and in recent weeks our form has improved and we want to keep that up.
"During training we discuss movement and approach among teammates and with the manager in terms of how we want to play in a match and practising such set pieces pays off as you have seen today."
Vitas currently occupy eight place in the league after 16 fixtures.
